  • Image shows brightness, but lines break up a solid screen
  • Laptop works properly off of external monitor, but no video to LCD

Some shops will advise their clients that it is not worth the time and money to replace or repair and issue such as described above. In fact this is not true in most cases. A typical LCD issue can be fixed for under $200 and we have the tools and expertise to determine which is the cause of the issue before any parts are ordered. In rare cases with odd sized displays or high end gaming systems that have separate video component, the cost to repair will be higher, but then again these systems have had a substantial investment already in them as far as money goes. It is ultimately up to the customer to make that decision, but we pride ourselves on giving you our honest opinion if it it worth fixing.

How to prevent damaging your LCD

  • Never pick your laptop up by the LCD screen or top cover
  • Avoid placing any weight onto the laptop either opened or closed. LCD will crack with any twisting or weight bearing load.
  • Keep laptop out of moist environments. An LCD inverter takes low computer voltage and converts to high to power the LCD back-light.
  • Avoid impacts either directly or indirectly. LCD circuitry is very delicate.
